Hi mafabielex, It depends which desert we are talking about, but thinking of places like Saudi Arabia - it's very close to north-east Africa, where coffee cultivation first began. The first society to begin drinking coffee habitually was the Arab world, and it spread with the Islamic empires of the time. So I'd say it's more about Arabic cultures, than being in a desert. Good question.
